I always have a million projects swimming around in my head I thought it would be best to keep it straight on here (and keep me accountable for trying my hand at them all!). So here’s my running list with links to the source if there is one!
1. Letterpress: I love letterpress work and really want to try it myself. I tried to make the letterpress from ReadyMade to print my wedding invites but $100 later the wood broke and it was a complete failure. So for now I’m keeping an eye out on Craigslist for a real tabletop letterpress!
2. Fabric Dyeing: I am a big quilter and don’t really love using print fabrics in my quilts so I really want to try to dye my own fabric. I even have a spot in my basement all picked out for my dye studio! I have a bunch of images swimming around in my head of a blue and green striped hand dyed silk coverlet for my bed (I think silk dyeing is it’s own ball of wax… haha wax, see 2 below…)
3. Guest Book Quilt: For our wedding we cut out 12″ square pieces of muslin for people to sign. Once I get a hang of the fabric dying I need to put these into a memory quilt. (Image Credit: Gallery 9 North)
4. Batik: This should probably be a sub-set of “Fabric Dyeing” but in order to pace myself I need to list it separately. I’ve always loved the mesmerizing patterns in batik and can’t wait to give it a go.
5. Felting: Ever since I saw felted bowls like these from Etsy seller Secret Snowbird I’ve wanted to try felting. It took a little research to realize that there are two different kinds of felting: knitted and fiber felting. So naturally I need to try both!
6. Felted Blanket: And as a subset of that, I definitely need to try this sweater blanket from ReadyMade. Time for a trip to the thrift store!
7. Reupholstery: I have two big reupholstery projects: the blue dining room 1950s chairs that I picked up from Craigslist and the antique loveseat handed down to me by my dad. I have fabric picked out for each, but haven’t really ever upholstered before so we’ll see how this goes! Decided not to reupholster the love seat but here’s the dining room chairs!
8. Cake Decorating Classes: Last August I took the first of the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes and then had to quit because wedding stuff got crazy. I’ve been making icing roses whenever I get the chance this past year so it’s time to move on to something else!
9. Ruffled Shirt Featured on Tea Rose Home: How beautiful is this and from t-shirts! I have some jersey material leftover from god-knows-what that would work perfectly for this!
10. Flokati T-Shirt Rug: I love anything that reuses materials (like t-shirts) and of course anything that involves fabric dying… so while this is incredibly time consuming I want to try hooking this rug! (Tutorial and Image from Xoelle)
11. Infinity Dress: Rostitchery has a great tutorial for this dress. I want short ones in lots and lots of colors, and a couple of longer ones (because I love long dresses… even if A hates them!) I downloaded this pic awhile ago and kind find where I got it from (and who to credit it to) so if it’s you, please let me know!
